In November I had the opportunity to chaperone a Fine Arts field trip to the UK College of Fine Arts “SeeArt Day 2025. This day is a creative experience provided by the UK College of Fine Arts for junior and senior Kentucky High School students to gain “hands on studio” experiences by attending a variety of workshops throughout the day. These workshops are held by the faculty and students from the UK college of fine arts. Upon entering the facility, students are provided with a “paper pull system” in which to choose workshops they would like to attend. Workshops included photography, textiles, drawing, painting, and ceramics, just to name a few. The pottery wheel of course being a favorite with all the students. Typically, the workshops were from 30-40 minutes in length, allowing students to spend a quality amount of time in a variety of workshops. Most of our students were able to make their way through every workshop and still have time to talk with other art students across the state and observe UK college students creating their art pieces for class. Professors were also in attendance and took the time to converse with our kids and answer any questions students had. Registration was free and a grilled hot dog, chips, and soda was provided. During lunch, art teachers from across the state were able to visit with others and a roundtable discussion was held by the faculty. This was an awesome experience and I highly recommend this trip!
