We are proud to recognize several of our talented 8th grade band students who were selected to participate in the 2026 Honor Band at University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky. This prestigious musical experience brings together outstanding student musicians from across the region and is open to students in grades 8–12.
Selection for the Honor Band is an achievement in itself. Students must submit recorded audition materials demonstrating their musical skills, tone quality, technique, and overall musicianship. Based on these audition submissions, students are carefully selected by the university. Our 8th grade students represented Science Hill School with dedication and musical excellence throughout the audition process.

During the two-day Honor Band event, students rehearsed intensively with guest conductors and music educators. In a short amount of time, they learned four to five challenging concert pieces, collaborating with fellow musicians from around the region. Approximately ten surrounding schools were represented, allowing students to meet and perform with peers who share a passion for music.

The event concluded with a public concert performance, where students showcased the music they had prepared for their families, friends, and members of the community. The performance highlighted not only their musical growth, but also the teamwork and dedication required to prepare a full concert program in just two days.

Our students did an outstanding job making music, building friendships, and representing Science Hill School and their community. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and the way they represented our school alongside other talented musicians from across the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Congratulations to these students for this wonderful accomplishment and for continuing to share their musical talents with others. We look forward to seeing all the great things they will achieve in the future!
