Two weeks out of school for snow and ice was a lot, but let’s celebrate what the 6th graders finished up this week in class. They have been focusing on understanding theme through art. We explored with gallery walks in our classroom with different themes such as “freedom” Students had to find examples in music (lyrics), visual art (sculptures/paintings) and performing arts (drama/dance). We also found examples representing the theme of love and family. After exploring theme through art, all students created a product of their choice depicting a theme represented in the arts. We had project cubes and multimedia presentations as the favorite choices. Take a look at some examples, and be sure to ask your child what they did for their theme product.
