On November 11, the Foley Middle School 8th grade band paid tribute to those who have served our country with a special Veterans Day performance. Students proudly performed patriotic music to honor local veterans and recognize their dedication, sacrifice, and service.

The performance took place during the Veterans Day program at Foley Middle School Band. Family members, staff, and veterans in attendance were welcomed with applause as the band showcased weeks of preparation and hard work. These musicians demonstrated not only their growing musical skills, but also their understanding of the importance of Veterans Day. Through their performance, they expressed appreciation for the freedoms protected by those who serve.

The 8th grade band also spread some Christmas cheer to a local senior living facility in Richmond by performing a selection of festive Christmas songs for residents. The performance included a variety of seasonal favorites that many residents recognized and enjoyed. After the performance, students delivered handmade cards created by the arts and language arts classes. They also spent time visiting with residents and sharing conversations. These interactions made the experience especially meaningful for both the students and senior residents. The visit gave band students the opportunity to use their musical talents to give back to the community while learning the importance of kindness and connection from all ages. The 8th grade band’s visit was a heartwarming reminder of how music can bring generations together and spread joy during the holiday season.
